Engineering Technical Paper

Chrome-white iron (CWI) has been the hard-working wear material for hard-rock and mineral-processing pumps for more than 70 years.

The paper traces the alloy family’s history, but more importantly distils five modern CWI grades (WI05, WI94, WI53, WI16, WI56) and links them to the four Slurry Wear Types (SWT #1 – #4) adopted by industry-leading pump specialists.

Implementing the correct pairing typically extends component life 50 – 300 % and reduces total cost of ownership.
