We use laser scanning to make design improvements on worn or problematic designs. The laser scans can be used for quality checks on the improved product.

Here’s the process we use.

A problem with existing design – desired improved life but some interchangeability.

Needed some items to have dimensions exactly per the existing design.

The laser scan provides millions of dots with known distances between them – a ‘point cloud’.

Meshes cannot be worked with for design modifications.

The CAD model can now be reviewed and improved by engineering.

The CAD model can now be altered to either reproduce intended design or develop an improved part.

Design comparisons’, wear analysis and QA is now made easy!

Laser scans can now be used for ongoing QA check on the improved product.
